Cambridge: Massachusetts Institute of Technology on Saturday was put on lockdown after the university was informed by police that a person with a long rifle and body armor was holed up in the Main Group Building of the campus. The university posted the information on its website.
MIT added in the emergency announcement that multiple law enforcement agencies responded after the alert. The university also cautioned students to stay indoors and report any suspicious activity to the campus police.
A photo that appears to have been tweeted from near campus shows a road blocked to traffic. More details are awaited.
