PARADIP:  A security drill ‘Operation Hamla 3’ began in the Bay of Bengal, off Orissa Coast, here on Monday. It is being jointly organised by the Navy, Coast Guard, District and Marine Police and CISF personnel. The 48-hour drill, that was carried out both on land and sea, aimed at tracing out undercover terrorists, warding off possible terror attacks and preventing infiltration. In the exercise, five Naval warships, three ships of Coast Guard, two of Paradip Marine Police and two helicopters were engaged. The exercise was carried out under the supervision of Jagatsinghpur SP S Debdatta Singh and Deputy Inspector-General, Coast Guard (Paradip), K Raghuvanshi. Four similar mock drills were carried out earlier. “The security drills have been carried out in all the six coastal districts but the exact locations are being kept confidential for security reasons,” said a senior police official. He added that inadequate security along Orissa’s 480-km coastline makes it vulnerable to possible terrorist attacks.  The SP said that the drill would continue for two more days.
