TIRUCHY: Ramajayam, the king pin behind the activities of DMK strongman and former Minister KN Nehru, was arrested on Monday at Kochi airport as he was trying to flee the country.Ramajayam is allegedly involved in several land grab cases in Tiruchy Town and across the district.The immigration officials at Kochi stopped Ramajayam, during the wee hours of Monday, while he was about to board a flight to Dubai.He was handed over to Nedumbaserry police station. It was said, Ramajeyam was planning to fly to Malaysia. On information, a team of police officials, led by Assistant Commissioner Srinivasan, reached Kochi by 12.30 pm and the Kochi police handed over the accused to Srinivasan. It is said that Ramajayam would be produced before the Court here on Tuesday.Ramajayam was one of the co-accused in connection with the case of land grab for the construction of Kalignar Arivalayam, the party headquarters here, according to a complaint by one Dr Srinivasan.According to the complaint, 11 persons, including former minister KN Nehru, his brother Ramajayam, Deputy Mayor M Anbalgan and Kudamuritti T Sekar forcibly acquired the 13,290 sqft for the construction of Kalaignar Arivalayam. All the other accused except Ramajeyam were arrested on August 25. Ramajayam was absconding for a long time and was staying abroad. Following information that Ramajayam was in India after the arrest of his brother Nehru, Tamil Nadu police alerted all airports across the country, which had fetched a positive result.
