News briefs: Government to caution people against buying plots from fraudulent societies

Releasing public advertisements state-wide, the department will disclose the names of such societies, their presidents, other members and their contact numbers.

The information will also be released about the date when the society was liquidated informing people not to purchase plots after that date. The department has set a deadline of August 5 to collect information of such unauthorised societies and run the campaign.

Jaipur: School turns away four HIV+ kids, RSACS intervenes

A private school in Jaipur refused to admit four children from a shelter home because they were HIV positive.

Rajasthan State AIDS Control Society (RSACS) has ordered the school coordinator to resolve the issue.

The children, two boys and two girls, all aged between five and seven, reside in the Positive Women’s Network-PinkCity here.

The home has 29 children aged between five and 17, of whom 19 are HIV positive.

In a shocking incident, a school principal showed nude photographs to a class 5 girl student. He even tried to physically abuse her.

Jaipur: SMS Hospital to provide cheaper food for caretakers

To provide good quality and hygienic food at less cost to attendants of patients at Sawai Man Singh (SMS) hospital, NGO Akshay Patra has now been given the contract to run the hospital canteen.

Narbhay Ram Joshi, a patient who came to the hospital for a treatment inaugurated the canteen.

Hospital’s medical superintendent Dr Virendra Singh said attendants of patients earlier had to eat food from hotels outside the hospital or roadside dhabas which were generally not hygienic and were costly too. Looking at this aspect, Akshay Patra has been asked to run the hospital canteen.

Sriganganagar: Government Medical College to cost Rs 215 crore

The estimated cost of setting up a government medical college in Sriganganagar would be Rs 215 crore, said the medical education department in its report to the district collector. Out of this, Rs 135 crore will be spent on construction of the college, hostels for students and staff, the rest would be spent on procurements and installation of medical equipments, said the report.

On 14 June 2013, an MOU was signed between businessman BD Aggarwal and the district collector, in which Aggarwal agreed to pay 10% of estimated constructional cost as bank guarantee.
