Patna: The NDA Government in Bihar is set to bowl out RJD Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav as President of Bihar Cricket Association (BCA).
This, they plan to achieve by bringing out an ordinance permitting only sport bodies recognised by the state government to seek affiliation with national associations.
The coming into force of the ordinance would mean that Lalu-headed BCA's chance of getting affiliation with the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) would be doomed.
Sources in the Department of Sports and Culture said that the Government was contemplating bringing an ordinance to 'streamline' sports activities in the state.
The ordinance would ensure that sporting bodies recognised by the state government alone organised sporting events.
Those conducting such competitions without recognition would be liable to imprisonment upto six months.
Such a law existed in BJP-ruled states of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
The ordinance is expected to see the light of day before June 1.
The BCCI is likely to decide the issue of affiliation to Bihar at its meeting in Mumbai on the same day.
BCA and Association of Bihar Cricket (ABC), led by former Test cricketer and BJP leader Kirti Azad is locked in a battle to secure affiliation from BCCI.
