Bhopal: Masood Sultan, father of slain RTI activist Shehla, said on Sunday that things have not moved even an inch since her murder took place on August 16. Masood said that the work of CBI which is investigating the case was hampered by the fact that it had been unable to find an eyewitness to the murder and that nothing much could be done till an eyewitness was found.
Speaking to PTI, Masood who is a retired government employee, said that ever since his daughter was murdered, the life of his family members had virtually turned into hell.
He was visibly angry with the police and the local media for the 'baseless stories about Shehla's murder' that were carried.
He argued that the police might have said anything but the media did not cross-check either with him or his family members. He was upset with stories that appeared saying Shehla had either committed suicide or she had been killed by her family members.
Asked if Shehla had got married, he said that he did not have any information on this but if newspapers chose to say that she had entered wedlock, he could do nothing about it.
Masood said that the nature of statements made by the police after Shehla's murder indicated that they were aware that this (murder)was going to take place.
When asked as to who could be behind her murder, Masood said that the killing could be the result of a nexus of various kinds of people having vested interest.
RTI activist Shehla was found shot dead inside her car on August 16 in Bhopal by unidentified persons. While the local police initially conducted investigations into the murder, the case was later handed over to CBI.
