In a shocking incident from Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar, a man tried to kill his wife after she confided in him about being raped by his brother while he was away. The man tried to strangle his wife to death claiming that she was “no longer his wife” after being raped by his brother.
According to an NDTV report, the woman claimed her brother-in-law raped her on April 2 when her husband was away. She narrated her ordeal to her husband when he returned only to be met with a shocking response. “You are no longer my wife. You are my sister-in-law now,” the husband declared.
The woman further alleged that her husband tried to strangle her with her dupatta the next day while his brother recorded the incident on his mobile phone.
The police noted the incident after the woman shared the video and a written complaint on social media. A case under sections 376 (rape), 307 (attempt to murder), and 328 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) have been filed against the accused husband and brother-in-law at Khatauli Kotwali police station.
Superintendent of Police Satyanarayan Prajapati said that efforts are underway to nab both the accused and legal action will be taken against them soon.
Last month, a 32-year-old man allegedly murdered his wife and two children and kept their bodies next to him in their house in Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow for almost three days. The accused murdered his wife over suspicions of an affair.
The accused — identified as Ram Lagan Gautam — was arrested on the charges of killing his wife Jyoti, aged 30 and children Payal and Anand, aged six and three.
A 55-year-old man was apprehended for allegedly murdering his wife and keeping her body at their residence in Ghaziabad in March this year.
