New Delhi: Just 45 days to go, now the Government has stepped in to take control of the Commonwealth Games Organising Committee (CWG OC) mess. Ten senior bureaucrats have been handpicked by the Prime Minister Office (PMO) on Thursday afternoon, to assist the CWG OC.

The government officers selected by the Cabinet Secretary have been deputed to the different Games venues and they will be in-charge of the Games. They will be responsible for each venue.

All the Organising Committee officers have to report to the appointed bureaucrats.

Earlier on Thursday morning, the Congress President Sonia Gandhi had promised that those involved in games corruption will not be spared.

Describing the Commonwealth Games as "a matter of national pride", she said the event was not related to any political party or individual. "It was a matter of national pride and efforts should be made to hold them successfully," she said.

She also referred to the Group of Ministers set up by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to look into the preparations for the Games and asked everyone involved to make the Games successful.
