On the auspicious occasion of Holi, Vrindavan will add to its cap another feather, a magnificent temple - virtually a skyscraper with footprints covering an area of about six acres.

The foundation stone of the temple - Chandrodaya Mandir - will be laid on March 16, the day of Holi, in the city where where virtually every house has a temple.

"Though there is no dearth of temples here, devotees of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) have decided to set up an iconic temple that would put the holy land of Radha Rani on the world map," Head of Communication and Public Relations (of the proposed temple) Bharat Dasa said.

The temple would be a picture of unique blending of architectural of Nagara style and elements of modern architecture.

It would not only be an architectural marvel but would also reflect gorgeous deity worship and vibrant daily devotional programme including Bhajan, Kirtan and discourse, Dasa said.

"The total temple complex is spread over 62 acres of land, with 12 acres earmarked for parking facility and a helipad," Dasa added.
