ANANTAPUR: A Nagaraju of D Herehall village, along with his brother Kumaraswamy and brother-in-law Nagaraju, bought a truck and earned handsome income owing to brisk mining operations. He purchased four more trucks and also 10 acres of land.His bad days started when the mines were closed. Financiers, who lent him money to purchase trucks, started paying visits to his house every day demanding repayments of the loans.Nagaraju, who is respected in the village, lost it all with moneylenders coming after him. Unable to stand the pressure, he surrendered his trucks to them to clear the loans and thus lost his source of income.There was also no earning from the land he had purchased because there were no rains. He had to make do with whatever little that he had and the family even went without food for some days. One fine day, he left all his inhibitions aside and opened a chicken shop in a small shed. In a few days, business picked up and he is able to provide food to his family now.When Express contacted him, he was very withdrawn and did not wish to reveal his name and refused to get photographed thinking that the visitors were financiers' representatives. When his fears were allayed, he warmed up and said his chicken centre was running good and he was earning enough to feed his family.
