Tendulkar said his international debut in Pak in 1989 was a landmark for him.

Mumbai: Batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar acknowledged his international debut in Pakistan in 1989 as the most important moment of his life.

Speaking at a press conference to mark his completing two decades in international cricket, the Little Master said, "playing for India for the first time" was the most important moment for him.

"Playing for India for the first time was the most important moment for me," he said, adding that the innings against Pakistan at the 2003 World Cup was his best knock.

He thanked the people of India and his family and friends for supporting him for all this while.

"My family has played a very important role. I represent them in the middle," he said. "I want to thank the people of India for their affection and support. I have a billion supporters."

The humble cricketer also explained that it is his upbringing that made him such a humble person despite plethora of records.

"I have made no conscious effort to stay humble. It is just my upbringing," he said. "I am fortunate to have played for India for such a long time."

"Education, focus and priorities in life are very important. I have tried to make myself a better cricketer with the passage of time. Whenever I go out to practice there is always a purpose. It is very important to always move forward," he said.

Speaking about changes in the game, he said, "The most noticeable change since 1989 is the innovation because to Twenty20 cricket and seeing results in Test matches nowadays."
