A day after reports of rape of a Polish woman surfaced, the Uttar Pradesh police has launched a manhunt for the accused. However, the UP police maintains that there are several inconsistencies in the statement of the complainant.

The woman in her complaint had alleged that she was abducted at knife point by a taxi driver in Mathura who later drugged and raped her. When the victim gained her senses, she found herself in Delhi, where she lodged a complaint in the Paharganj police station. The case was later transferred to Mathura police.

"We received an FIR saying that the woman was raped. There are many variations and contradictions in her statement," said Gulab Singh, Mathura SSP.

The woman also carries a two-year-old child with her.

The incident comes in less than a month's time when a Dutch woman was raped by a Yoga instructor in Goa.
