HYDERABAD: The power supply situation has slightly improved with the state recording a power deficit of 27.81 million units (MU) on Sunday when compared to about 30-35 MU recorded in the past three weeks.Though the power supply has been hovering around 230 MU, the officials said that the demand has gone down from 265 MU to 260 MU in the past few days.According to officials, the coal supply to thermal power stations in the state has improved after the state government started importing coal. A consignment of one lakh tonnes has arrived in the state which is being supplied to various thermal power plants.The thermal units of APGenco generated 88 MU on Sunday. The officials were hopeful that the power supply position is likely to improve within the next couple of days as the coal production in Singareni Collieries is coming back to normalcy.Further, coal production in Singareni mines has also improved slightly from about 40,000 tonnes 10 days ago. Singareni Collieries has generated 86,000 tonnes on Monday as against the dai ly requi rement of 90,000 to 1,00,000 tonnes for thermal stations in the state. This is the highest since the strike began on September 13.
