HYDERABAD: Barely two hours after the CBI arrested Kadapa MP Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, police took into custody his mother and MLA Y S Vijayamma, wife Bharati and his sister Sharmila for staging a dharna in front of the Dilkusha Guest House in protest against Jagan’s arrest.Police also detained various YRC party leaders like Bajireddy Govardhan Reddy, MLC Joopudi Prabhakar, Y V Subba Reddy and Sakshi editorial director Sajja Ramakrishna Reddy.Police, however, shifted Jagan’s family members to their Lotus Pond residence while shifting others to the Bollaram police station. But Vijayamma did not let up her protest at her residence also and the family members sat outside the house and flayed the attitude of the police officers who shifted them forcibly. They were joined by other party activists who raised slogans against the state government. The deluge of scribes and photographers who flocked the area were also at the receiving end with cops reportedly beating up some of them.Protests in Lantern GlowDespite disruption of power supply at her house, MLA Vijayamma, along with her daughter-n-law Bharathi, daughter Sharmila and family friend Vijay Sai Reddy, is continuing her protest against the arrest of her son Jagan with a lantern beside her.Vijayamma alleged that the government deliberately cut power to Lotus Pond. She also charged the government with directing news channels to stop broadcasting their protest.
