Pub attack: Sacked NCW member cries conspiracy
Sacked NCW member Nirmala Venkatesh's press meet turned ugly.

New Delhi: A press conference by sacked National Commission of Women member Nirmala Venkatesh turned ugly on Monday when a heated argument broke out between her and a journalist.

The exchange of words turned into a full-fledged verbal fight.

The press conference happened in Bangalore where Venkatesh said her sacking was a political conspiracy saying that the members of the committee were not qualified enough.

"It is a deep political conspiracy to tarnish my image.I condemn it. In NWC, I was the only legally qualified member. I was known for my honesty," she said.

She blamed Union Minister Renuka Chowdhury for giving Karnataka a bad name by highlighting the Mangalore pub attack issue when there are much more serious issues in other states.

"Why is Renuka Chaudhury silent over much more serious incidents in other states like Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh? For me, my state is more important than party and government," she said.

She didn't spare NCW Chairperson Girija Vyas either saying Vyas deliberately delayed the submission of the report on the attack.

"NCW deliberately delayed the submission of my report. Maybe Girija Vyas is also responsible for that," she stated.

Nirmala was fired after her controversial comments on last month's Mangalore pub attack.
