Blistering heat wave conditions on Tuesday prevailed over western parts of Uttar Pradesh even as eastern part of the state saw light to moderate rains accompanied by thundershowers.
According to MeT office, Banda recorded the highest maximum day temperature at 47.6 degrees Celsius. Heat wave conditions continued to prevail over Jhansi, Agra and Meerut divisions while temperatures rose in Varanasi division and changed little in the remaining divisions of the state, it said.
They were markedly above normal in Jhansi, Meerut, Agra divisions, appreciably above normal in Allahabad, Bareilly, Moradabad divisions, above normal in Varanasi, Lucknow divisions and normal elsewhere. Weather office recorded 3 cms as chief amount of rainfall in Maharajganj. MeT office, in a forecast, said that weather would mainly be dry over the state during next 24 hours.
