PUDUCHERRY: Around 700 Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) activists and party founder Dr S Ramadoss were arrested in Tindivanam on Tuesday following a demonstration to demand the implementation of the Uniform System of School Education (USE). According to information gathered here, charging that the AIADMK government was delaying implementation of USE, Ramadoss said the government should not meddle in the future of the 1.80 crore students. He added that the parents wanted quality education and not freebies. The PMK workers, led by local leader Malar Sekar, took out the rally from Gandhi Statue to the taluk office.During the protest Ramadoss, who reached the Tinidvanam taluk office to join the demonstrators, informed them that the police had not given them permission for the agitation and would be arrested. The police then arrested the PMK activists and removed them.
