HYDERABAD: Telangana Telugu Desam leaders on Sunday urged the chief minister to take measures for deletion of Clause 14 (F) from the Presidential order, 1975 on the zonal system and then only conduct the written examination for sub-inspectors' recruitment.Surprisingly, the leaders submitted the memorandum on the Telugu Desam Legislature Party (TDLP) letterhead. No Seemandhra leader was in the TDP delegation.Asked about submission of the memorandum on the TDLP letterhead, MLA Ravula Chandrasekhara Reddy said the Assembly had unanimously adopted a resolution appealing to the Centre to delete Clause 14 (F). Andhra MLAs too were present in the House and it was a unanimous resolution, he said. But Andhra TDP leaders, giving vent to the feelings of the people of their region, are unhappy with the Telangana leaders submitting a memorandum on behalf of the TDLP. "We are against such representation," a party leader from Andhra said. It may be recalled that when party chief N Chandrababu Naidu had supported the resolution on Clause 14 (F) in the Assembly, opposition leader in the Legislative Council Dadi Veerabhadra Rao opposed it. The Council did not adopt the resolution. In the memorandum to the chief minister, the Telangana TDP leaders said the resolution adopted by the state Assembly was still pending with the Centre in spite of innumerable requests made by several student organisations and political parties. "We learn that the state government is going to conduct the examination on August 13 and 14 without waiting for deletion of Clause 14 (F) from the Presidential Order. Of the 18,300 candidates appearing for the examination, 8,900 are from Telangana. Under the clause, candidates from Andhra and Rayalaseema regions can also be recruited for police jobs in Hyderabad in view of the state capital being a free zone. If the test is conducted, it will aggravate the regional tensions further," the T leaders warned the chief minister and urged him to conduct the test only after the clause was deleted.
