New Delhi: A six-year-old, class one student of Hyderabad's Loyola Convent High School in Saroor Nagar was allegedly raped in the school bus on Monday.
She was returning home after school when the bus driver allegedly raped her. The child was alone in the bus with the driver as she was to be dropped last.
The case came to light on Monday morning when the parents registered a complaint with the police.
Akhil Bharthiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) activists soon arrived at the school and beat up the driver who had come to drop students at the school.
Police later arrested the driver and produced him before a magistrate who him to judicial custody. A case of rape has been registered against the driver.
There has been a spate of cases of rape against minors in the country. Barely six-months ago another six-year-old from Tulips School was raped by a bus attendant in LB Nagar in Hyderabad.
Recently, a 13-year-old girl in Mumbai was raped by her stepfather. The stepfather has been arrested in connection with her rape and assault.
The girl was allegedly tortured by her stepfather and her own mother as they wanted her to give up claims on a piece of property that she had inherited from her grandmother.
