Rajasthan is in the grip of a severe heat wave with Barmer recording the highest temperature of the day at 42.5 degree Celsius.

Kota, Chittorgarh and Jodhpur recorded 41.8, 40.7 and 40.6 degree Celsius respectively whereas other cities recorded day temperatures between 39.6 and 38.2 degree Celsius, according to the Meteorological Department in Jaipur.

The weather on Saturday remained mainly dry and the department has predicted thunderstorm at isolated places in the state during next 24 hours.
