CHENNAI: The Income Tax Department in Chennai will operate 40 special counters for salaried tax assesses from July 28 to 31. The special counters will be set up at Aayakar Bhawan in Nungambakkam where the tax department has its offices. There will be 15 separate counters for PAN verification and help desks for tax assesses. One of them will be an exclusive counter for senior citizens and physically challenged people. Separate help desks for general queries, supply of return forms, PAN verification, including a PAN counter from UTISL, will also be available. IT return forms are also available on the tax department’s website www.incometaxindia.gov.in.Salaried assesses of Tambaram and Kancheepuram can also file their returns at the special counters at Aayakar Bhawan. The Tambaram and Kancheepuram IT offices will also receive returns. Separate counters will be available for filing bulk returns by the corporate sector and big establishments. Corporates should arrange the returns in alphabetical order. Assesses are advised to mention their PAN, address, bank account number and MICR code. Forms without PAN will not be accepted. They should also fill up the tax deduction account number (TAN) of the employer.ITR-V (acknowledgement for e-filed returns) should be mailed to Income Tax Department CPC, Post Box No. 1, Electronic City Post Office, Bangalore 560 100, Karnataka. No ITR-V shall be received in the IT office at Aayakar Bhawan, the release said.Taxpayers as an option could avail of paid services of tax return preparers (TRPs) for filing returns. The list of locally available TRPs is available on the website www.trpscheme.com.
