THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Under the one-year programme of the UDF Government, a special police mechanism would be implemented under the City Police Commissioner, Thiruvananthapuram. As a pilot project, the system will be confined to Thiruvananthapuram city only.Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said the special police will have special uniform with the name of ‘Thiruvananthapuram City Police.’ They will be provided with laptops, breath analyser equipment and camera. In case of a crime is detected, Swift Action team will reach the sport with first aid in five minutes. The Chief Minister said a state bureau of Investigation will be set up on the model of CBI under the State Government. A call centre to act on complaints of atrocities against women will be set up. Women help desks will be extended to 150 police stations. State industrial security force, centralised system to monitor traffic rule violations in 300 centres, high security jail at Viyyur, audio video analysis facility at the forensic laboratory are some of the projects envisaged for this year.
