CHENNAI: Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa will convene a meeting of the State Cabinet at noon on Monday.Apart from giving approvals for budget proposals, the Cabinet is likely to adopt a resolution urging the Centre to support the UN-backed resolution against Sri Lanka on war crimes before the United Nations Human Rights Commission (UNHRC). The Koodankulam Nuclear Power Plant Project (KKNPP) is also likely to be a topic of discussion. The CM wrote two letters to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh requesting the Centre to support the US-backed resolution. However, Jayalalithaa said the PM’s reply, which came a few days ago, was not satisfactory as there was no commitment to her demand. Several political parties have urged the CM to convene a special session of the State Assembly to discuss the matter.
