CHENNAI: Kindling the entrepreneurial abilities of young women students, the Entrepreneurship Development Cell of MOP Vaishnav College for Women organised their annual MOP Bazaar over the weekend on their campus. Emulating the previous year’s success, the 13th edition of the MOP Bazaar, had 80 stalls manned by about 400 students, this year. From clothing and accessories, footwear, eco-friendly products, self-designed products, automobile and even mobile accessories, cosmetics, stationery, state ethnic products — the bazaar even had handbags from China for sale.Besides, the gala event also had unique intellectual games and mouth-watering food from over six different cuisines. The college aims at tapping the creativity of the students through this initiative. It is also aimed at honing their communication, presentation, marketing and managerial skills, giving them a true feel of being an entrepreneur.The college provides training through its ED cell and allows the students to efficiently market the products by interacting with the public through the MOP Bazaar each year.Last year, 77 stalls were operated in MOP Bazaar 2011, earning a turnover of `12,03,058 and a profit of `6,33,062.
