BANGALORE: Refuting the allegations of improper implementation of JNNURM programmes levelled by former Rajya Sabha member B K Hari Prasad, Urban Development and Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister S Suresh Kumar clarified that the Union Government has lauded the achievements of the State for the way it has implemented JNNURM project.Barring Gujarat, Karnataka stands on top in introducing reforms in services, he said.In a press release, the Minister stated that Hari Prasad had claimed that Rs 7,000 crore had been released to Karnataka state under JNNURM, but in reality, only Rs 4,624.95 crore had been sanctioned by the Centre and only Rs 1,616.95 crore had been released. Karnataka government had sanctioned a total of Rs 845.13 crore as State component for the project, out of which Rs 484.77 crore had already been released. The share of local bodies was Rs 1,778.18 crore, of which they had already contributed Rs 1616.95 crore.He said there are 66 projects in the state undertaken under JNNURM. While 23 are completed, 42 projects are under various stages of implementation. Only one project pertaining to Tourism Department has not been taken up due to technical reasons.There are 39 projects taken up in Bangalore at a cost of Rs 2,890.65 crore. While the Central government has given only Rs 796.99 crore, BBMP has   spent Rs 1,798.95 crore.
