HYDERABAD: The ongoing Sakala Janula Samme of TJAC has hit the two-wheeler market in Telangana region causing a fall of 20 to 40 per cent in the sale of all brands. Many prospective buyers have postponed their decision to purchase a two-wheeler because of the general strike.“Farmers and small businessmen are facing problems due to the strike. Hence, they are not showing any interest in purchasing two-wheelers,” said Suzuki sales manager Khayum. In Khammam district, the Suzuki two-wheeler dealer used to sell 900 to 1,000 units per month before Sakala Janula Samme. Now, his sales has slumped by 50 per cent.According to Royal Enfield sales manager Y Raju, the impact of Sakala Janula Samme is very severe on the two-wheeler market. There is a 20 to 25 per cent fall in the sale of two-wheelers in Telangana.Dealers of two-wheelers are also not getting vehicles from the manufacturing plants due to the general strike. Transporters of vehicles are not coming forward to deliver twowheelers to dealers in Telangana fearing attacks from T activists on their trucks.Generally, two-wheelers are transported from the manufacturing units in Chennai to the main dealer in Hyderabad. The main dealer sends the vehicles to the showrooms in Andhra, Rayalaseema and Telangana districts. The main dealers of different brands are also finding it difficult to send the two-wheelers to dealers in Andhra and Rayalaseema as the strike has hit road transport badly. The sale of Honda and Hero vehicles has also fallen by 35 per cent.On an average, the companies are selling 4,000 to 5,000 bikes per month in Telangana districts. Now, the sale of bikes has come down to 3,000 per month.According to Bajaj representative N Sateesh, his company sales has dropped by 10 to 15 per cent due to the strike. Due to bandhs and protests, banks and finance companies are not processing vehicle loan applications speedily, which is another reason for the drop in the sales of two-wheelers.
