DINDIGUL: Tension prevails at Paraipatti, near Begampur, in Dindigul district here on Tuesday, in connection with an idol procession that is scheduled to take place as part of a temple festival .Security has been beefed up in the village and Section 144 has been invoked in the disputed area by the Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO).According to sources, Bagavathi Amman Temple festival is in progress at Paraipatti village. It was announced that a procession will be taken out as part of the festival around 1 pm on Tuesday. However, there was a dispute over the route which had to be taken by the procession.A group had opposed the procession through Yousufia Nagar in the village while the other group insisted that the procession will have to go through that way.Meanwhile, a peace committee meeting was organised. But, no decision was taken. In order to avert any untoward incident, security has been beefed up with DIG (Dindigul range) Sanjay Mathur and other officials heading to the village. South Zone IG Manjunatha took stock of the situation.Meanwhile, the RDO has invoked Section 144 in the disputed Yusufia Nagar .
