Chennai: The critically acclaimed Tamil drama 'Thanga Meengal' will be showcased in the Panorama section of the 44th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) next month. The film's director Ramsubramaniam considers it a privilege.

'Thanga Meengal' is one among the other 25 feature films that have been selected for IFFI, which will be held in Goa Nov 20-30.

"I didn't even expect that such a rare recognition will come for my film. I'm extremely happy and equally privileged for this opportunity to present my work at IFFI. I would like to thank everyone who helped me make this film, including audiences who watched it and appreciated it," Ram told IANS.

Other noted films to be screened at IFFI include 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag', 'OMG: Oh My God', 'Ship of Theseus' and 'Paan Singh Tomar'.

'Thanga Meengal' has also been selected for screening in the Children's World section of the 17th International Children's Film Festival, which will take place in Hyderabad Nov 14-20.

"My film is a children's film in a way and this will be a great platform to exhibit it in. My film may not have done commercially well, but I'm happy that it's being appreciated on these platforms. I'm happy that it will be seen by as many people as possible," he added.

The film is about the relationship between a father and his daughter with focus on primary school education.

Besides directing the film, Ram had also played the lead role of the father in the film, which was inspired by own life and his relationship with his daughter.
