The Indian street food market is full of culinary gems of all kinds. From a crispy samosa to a hot jalebi, you’ll find all kinds of dishes. The street vendors selling our favourite food are often an integral part of our culture. And often, they have interesting stories to share that they’ve learned throughout their lives. Recently, a street seller who has been running a Jalebi centre went viral on the internet. The Mamaji Jalebi Centre is situated near Tower Circle in Karimnagar, Telangana.
This jalebi has been served to customers in the same quantity for the last 45 years. Apart from the Karimnagar district, they offer orders for other districts as well. Many people queue up for this Jalebi in the evening. During a wedding, the madness of the season is not normal. Several orders are taken and hundreds of kilos of sweets are made daily.
Along with jalebi, badusha and jangiri sweets are also freshly available here. Customers often say that eating hot Jalebi leaves them wanting more. Apart from the local districts, this jalebi is famous internationally and sent to other countries through courier.
The owner Lup Singh told Local18 that they don’t have any outlets other than this one. “Thousands of kilos of this jalebi are sold every day. When people from surrounding districts come to Karimnagar, they will not leave without trying Mamaji’s jalebi. If you come to Karimnagar, Mamaji will be serving hot jalebis next to Tower Circle. Try it yourself. Once you have had it, you will want to eat it again and again”, he added. Moreover, the vendor said that their income will be in thousands per day.
“This special jalebi is prepared by adding maida flour, sugar and a little water. We only use quality materials and that is the reason why our customers like our jalebis so much. Jalebi is sold at Rs 200 per kg”, he added.
