Gone are those times when women were not allowed to step out of their kitchens and do business. Now, women can start their businesses and become successful in that too. The women of Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu are another example in this field. A lady in the town of Thanjavur prepares and sells food items including pickled drumsticks and spinach powder at home. Many have started their businesses in small-scale manufacturing of organic food products, beauty products, art products and home appliances. Amuda Khoot Banga is successfully running her food shop by cooking healthy and innovative food products.

Amuda has been selling several types of food at her shop for years. In a bid to expand her business, the Thanjavur woman has recently introduced fish pickles in her shop. She is getting a good response from her customers. Healthy food items like Moringa Spinach Powder and Kerala Famous Pumpkin Vadagam are also popular among the food items in her shop.

While talking to Local18, Amuda Khoot Bonga said that her next goal is to make new types of small grain food and sell it not only in Thanjavur but also in other states. Amutha said that she is doing this business with the support of her son, daughter and husband.

Similar to Amutha of Thanjavur, there is a woman named Heera Prajapati in Tilak Nagar of Barmer city of Rajasthan. Today, she makes pickles of green chillies, carrots, turmeric, ginger, red chillies, garlic and lemon using this recipe from her grandmother. It is sold out immediately. Along with making pickles, she is also continuing her ancestral work of making earthen pots. On the festival of colours, she also makes herbal Gulaal which is loved by the people. Heera Prajapati sells her pickles at the rate of Rs 300 per kilo. She has sold around 50 kilos of pickles in a season.
