MVJ College of Engineering, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, conducted a 3-day C programming course for degree students from socially and economically backward areas. This training programme took place from January 18 to 21 at the MVJ college campus. Over 100 students from the villages in and around the college campus participated in the event.The 3-day training programme conducted by the Department of Information Science and Engineering, MVJ, involved introduction of basic concepts of computer and C programming followed by three hours of lab sessions daily. The students took a test on the third day to check their performance.Certificates were given to all students once they finished the programme and the test.Speaking about the initiative MJ Balachandar, chairman, MVJ College of Engineering said, “We believe that CSR activities should be a continuous commitment to ethically contribute to the development of society while improving the quality of life of workplace as well as local community and society. MVJCE offers its infrastructure and lab facilities to many government vocational courses to enable assist these students to work with the latest equipment.” Speaking about how the students were selected, Dr Badrinarayan KS, Principal, MVJ shared, “The participating students live in near-by villages and are studying in degree colleges run by the government. We have sent out letters to these colleges and interested students registered with us for the classes.We have limited the number of students to around 100 so as to give proper attention to each and every student.” Dr Badrinarayan also addressed the students on the importance of training programme for their future.
