BANGALORE: In the battle between the protesting organisations like Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation (KSTDC) Taxi and Lorry Owners’ Association, five other taxi, maxicabs and lorry associations and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) - no one seems to be backing off from their stands. While all the associations which have come together with the KSTDC are ready for protest from the moment the toll is charged, the NHAI in a move to soften matters has called a meeting with the association heads on February 10. The closed door meeting will be held on the NHAI campus and sources reveal that the NHAI is going to fulfil one of the major demands that the associations has placed forward. “They are going to talk about a service road that will be provided at the earliest. However, we don’t know how that would be possible. We are not going to back off from our stance. If they demand toll, we will sit on an indefinite protest,” said K G Ravindra, member, Karnataka Tourist Motor Cab Association and vice president of Bangalore Taxi Owners’ Association.Sources also revealed that the airport is also contemplating opening the road leading from Bangalore East to the BIA via Hennur.
