KURNOOL: Night curfew was imposed in Adoni town in Kurnool district with people belonging to two communities clashing with each other over a dispute on playing music in front of a place of worship.
The rival groups pelted stones at each other for over four hours leading to injuries to hundreds of people, policemen, newsmen and others. Police had to open fire in the air to disperse the warring groups.Nearly 200 Ganesh idols erected across the town were taken in a procession for immersion in the Tungabhadra Lower Level Canal (LLC). When the procession reached Kazipura street, people belonging to another religion objected to playing of music in front of their place of worship which ended in heated arguments between the two groups.

As tempers ran high, one group attacked the other with stones and also damaged some of the Ganesh idols. According to police, both the group brought stones in autos and trucks and rained stones on each other.

Night curfew was imposed and additional forces were rushed to the town where the situation is normal but remained tense throughout the night.
