Two mild aftershocks were recorded in Nepal on Friday, nearly five weeks after the country's worst quake claimed nearly 9,000 lives.

Kathmandu: Two mild aftershocks were recorded in Nepal on Friday, nearly five weeks after the country's worst quake claimed nearly 9,000 lives.

A 4 magnitude tremor was recorded at 2.16 pm with epicenter located in Kathmandu, according to the National Seismological Centre.

A second aftershock measuring 4.1 magnitude on the Richter scale was recorded at 10.02 am with epicenter at Sindhupalchowk district, near the Tibetan border.

The number of aftershocks with 4 or more magnitude following the April 25 earthquake has reached nearly 300.

The aftershocks have increased over the past three days. There were two aftershock on June 2 and 4 aftershocks on June 3.

Normalcy is slowly returning to Nepal five weeks after two deadly earthquakes struck the country, leaving nearly 9,000 people dead and injuring over 21,000.
