Two suspended for UTP escape

BALASORE: SP Rajesh Kumar on Saturday suspended two constables Manjulata Mohanty and Anirudha Das for dereliction of duty. The two were on escort duty during the production of undertrial prisoner (UTP) Chandrakanta Singh in the executive magistrate court on Thursday when he escaped from the court premises with the handcuffs.
The police said that Singh was an accused in several murder, stabbing, burglary and theft cases.Lawyers questioned the deployment of a lady constable as an escort. They also demanded action against the officer who allotted the lady constable.
