Ghaziabad: In an act of brutality, a 16-year-old boy was kidnapped, tortured and hung to death by nine men and women who accused him of stealing a mobile phone, police said on Thursday.
The victim's distraught mother Sunaina Jha told police that her son was dragged away from their house in Wasimpur Phase I in Ghaziabad around 8.30 on Thursday night.
He was taken to the Arun Enclave house of one of the kidnappers, Naeem, who accused the boy of stealing his phone.
The victim was reportedly tortured, his legs were tied with a rope and he was hung from the ventilator of the bathroom.
A neighbour alerted police about the murder. The mother rushed to Naeem's house and found her son hanging.
She identified the other abductors as Naeem's wife Kousar, Shafeeque, Zahid, Shahbuddin, Ashima, Dillu, Sazid and Sachin.
Superintendent of Police Jagdish Sharma said four people had been arrested for the crime and a hunt was on for the others.
