In a recent video that emerged from Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor district, a group of schoolgirls alleged that they were expelled by their principal for wearing hijabs. The 56-second clip, reportedly filmed in the Kotwali Dehat area, featured about a dozen girls in school uniforms, who claimed they were told to leave the school due to their hijabs.
In the video, the girls described how the principal instructed them to remove their hijabs and return with their heads uncovered. They asserted that they were expelled and advised to come back accompanied by their family members. The girls further stated that after morning prayers, the principal directed them to wear their hijabs differently and then asked them to leave.
Following the video’s release, the issue sparked considerable debate on social media. Despite this, the school has yet to issue an official statement. Samajwadi Party leaders and the local Gram Pradhan visited the school to address the situation. The police were also called to the scene and mediated discussions between the involved parties.
According to police, the dispute centered around the school’s dress code policies, and the role of law enforcement is limited to maintaining order, with the matter falling under the purview of the education department.
