Violence: UDF to launch campaign

The UDF has decided to organise a ‘Quit Violence’ programme on August 9, the Quit India Day, as part of its campaign against violence in the district. The decision was taken at a meeting of the UDF held here on Friday. Besides organising a people’s campaign against ‘CPM violence’, the UDF also decided to take measures to provide compensation to the victims of the attack. In addition to the assistance given to the victims by the political parties, efforts would be made to exert pressure on the government to provide compensation to them.

Campaign meetings against violence will be held at the panchayat-level, said the UDF leaders. Rural Development Minister K C Joseph, Agriculture Minister K P Mohanan, KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala, Muslim League general secretary K P A Majeed, P K K Bava, K Sudhakaran MP, M V Raghavan and legislators Sunny Joseph, K M Shaji and A P Abdullakutty were present at the meeting.
