BANGALORE: “The reason I write is to leave something behind for the coming generations. A teacher must share everything he has with his students, writing is the best way to do it,” said Professor CNR Rao, eminent scientist, during the release of his 3 books at the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research on Monday. The books were released by Justice M N Venkatachaliah, former chief justice of the Supreme Court. He criticised the education system in the country for not taking science education seriously.“The quality of science education in today’s schools is dismal. We need to start respecting scientists and teachers more, their status must increase enormously,” Venkatachaliah said. The release included 2 books in Kannada, which are translations of Prof Rao’s ‘Nanoworld’ and ‘Climbing the limitless ladder’. The book ‘Climbing the limitless ladder’ is a chronicle of Prof Rao’s experiences in which, he discusses both professional and personal observations of his journey. Some of the incidents include information on meetings between C V Raman and Sir M Visvesvaraya, chronicles from the Indian Institute of Science and tips on how to deal with troublesome faculty.
