Amrut Distilleries Wins 'Best Distillery in the World – Asian Whisky' at Tokyo Whisky and Spirits Competition 2024

Amrut Distilleries has achieved a significant milestone by winning the prestigious ‘Best Distillery in the World – Asian Whisky’ award at the Tokyo Whisky and Spirits Competition (TSC) 2024. This accolade adds to Amrut’s impressive tally of over 350 awards, solidifying its reputation as a leading producer of luxury spirits from India. Organized by the esteemed Whisky Research Centre, this recognition highlights Amrut’s excellence in the global whisky industry.

The Tokyo Spirits Competition, under the leadership of Mamoru Tsuchiya, is renowned for its rigorous judging process. The panel consists of more than 200 experts who meticulously assess each entry. This year’s competition saw entries from prominent distilleries across Taiwan, Japan, and India. Amrut Fusion’s victory over other distinguished single malts underscores the distillery’s exceptional quality and its ability to produce award-winning whiskies beloved by enthusiasts worldwide.

Amrut’s whisky-making philosophy aligns perfectly with Japan’s renowned expertise in the field. This award highlights the harmony between Amrut’s distinctive style and Japan’s whisky-making traditions, reinforcing Amrut’s position as a global leader in premium whisky production.

Mr. ThriVikram G Nikam, Joint Managing Director of Amrut Distilleries, expressed his pride upon receiving the award. Founded in 1948 by the late Mr. Radhakrishna Jagdale and situated in Bangalore, India, Amrut Distilleries is part of the NR Jagdale group. The international breakthrough came in 2009 with Amrut Fusion, which brought Indian whisky to the global spotlight. The journey of premiumization began under the visionary leadership of Chairman Mr. Neelkanth Rao Jagdale. Currently, Mr. Rakshit N Jagdale leads the family-owned enterprise as Managing Director.

Amrut’s innovative approach involves using Indian barley and leveraging the country’s unique climate to accelerate whisky maturation in oak barrels. This process creates a distinctive flavor profile that sets Amrut apart.
