Non-Invasive Anti-Aging Solutions: Radio Frequency, Ultrasound and Peels for Graceful Aging
Worried about invasive procedures on your skin? Know these certain non-invasive approaches which can be used to treat wrinkles

Signs of aging include wrinkling, fine lines, the expression lines becoming prominent, the pores getting wider, skin sagging towards the lower half of the face. So these are the changes that appear with weight loss or with aging skin. Now all of us were aware about how to take care of the skin consider Botox and fillers as the only option, the invasive option for anti-aging.

Dr Raina Nahar, consultant, Dermatology, PD Hinduja Hospital & Medical Research Center, Khar, Mumbai, shares, “But what we need to do is understand and widen the scope of our knowledge that there are certain non-invasive approaches which can be used to treat wrinkles. What are those? So basically, wrinkling is the skin losing its volume by losing the collagen and elastin, which are the proteins in the skin, which help to give us the elasticity, losing the, you know, the water holding capacity, reducing the hyaluronic acid. So all these are ingredients of the dermis, which gives the skin, its natural volume and youthful appearance. Now, if I don’t want to go in for an invasive procedure, what other technologies can be used? The non-invasive, where I don’t inject myself with something. So there are simple technologies like bipolar and mono polar radio frequency.”

Radio frequency is a technique where you can stimulate the skin to produce collagen. This is a device which can be, you know, used on the face for at least 30 to 40 minutes, properly, with a gap of maybe 15 days or three weeks, the temperature of around 40 to 41 degrees on the skin when you use a device helps you to generate new and new cells, so your aging process slows down. Your fine lines become eased out. Second, what other technology I can use is ultrasound.

Ultrasound is one of the most useful technologies, safest technologies when it comes to therapeutics and when it comes to procedures and investigations so high intensity, focused ultrasound is a technique which can help you to stimulate again, the collagen and elastin. It can help you to hydrate the skin and ease out the fine lines. The best part about an ultrasound is the depth. It is very, very precise in the depth. There are two or three modes depending on the depth of the you know, target tissue. So when we use for skin tightening, or for, lift, basically.

Dr Nahar adds, “So we go 4.5 mm below the skin surface to give you the lift, which is just about the muscular layer of the skin. And then the skin tightening mode is that three millimeters so you can get that proper tightening of skin. Because sometimes patients don’t have too much of sagging they seek tightening of sking to reduce fine lines and pores start. And the three millimeter mode is very helpful. And these procedures can be done once in three or six months, depending on the requirement. These are office based procedures. And you can finish these procedures in a gap of, say, around 40 minutes to one, one and a half hour, depending on what modes are used. And you can immediately go back and resume your day’s work or go to an event, go to a function. There is no  downtime. And that is the best part about these procedures. Second, simpler techniques that you can do is regular use of peels.”

There are various different types of peels which are available, which help you to age gracefully, slow down the aging process from your retinols, which have a downtime.

“Vitamin A peels, that is basically which helps to, you know, cause more and rejuvenation of skin, skin turnover is increased. Fine lines reduce. Fresh skin will start generating the skin peeling is a downtime, or skin shedding is something that working people cannot afford to have that downtime of five to seven days. So that is the only difficult issue. But otherwise, retinol peels work beautifully,”  adds Dr Nahar.  There are other anti-aging peels which you can use on regular basis to give your skin elasticity, to give that natural shine. Antioxidant peels are available, which give you that natural glow. So that is very, very helpful.

“Glycolic acid peels basically cause deformation of the upper dead layer and help you to rejuvenate the skin. Depending on the strength of the glycolic acid use, you may have a little less downtime, so over the weekend, you can allow the skin to rejuvenate, and by Monday, you’re back to office with healthier looking skin,” shares Dr Nahar.

So these are the techniques which can be used very frequently without doing an invasive procedure which help to you know, age gracefully. So radio frequency (monopolar or bipolar), ultrasound like and regular peels with anti-aging antioxidants, vitamin properties can be used regularly to help you age gracefully, and the downtime is almost negligible, and there are no injectables involved.
