Telangana and Andhra Pradesh recently faced heavy damage caused by the relentless rains and flash floods in the regions. This wreaked havoc in the two states and left many people in distress and displaced from their homes as the houses got damaged in the floods. Amid this situation, actors have stood by the governments and expressed their solidarity by donating for the relief. One such actor is Tamil star Silambarasan aka Simbu. Financial aid has been pouring in from celebrities to help the two Telugu-speaking states. Simbu announced a contribution of Rs 6 lakh to the Chief Ministers’ Relief Funds of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. This made him the first Tamil actor to extend his support for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. His generous gesture demonstrated that language barriers and regional differences do not matter when it comes to humanity and helping those in distress. His fans have appreciated his kind gesture to the cause as well. By donating, he has expressed his deep sorrow for the losses suffered by the people due to the floods and prayed for everyone to recover from the disaster quickly.
Telugu industry’s stars Jr NTR was the first to donate Rs 50 lakh each for the two states, in total Rs 1 crore. Following his lead, several other stars, directors and producers also announced their donations. Apart from him, Siddhu Jonnalagadda, Vishwak Sen, Jr NTR, Chiranjeevi, Allu Arjun, and Prabhas have made donations already to the cause. Actor Ananya Nagalla announced that she donated Rs 2.5 lakh each to the Chief Minister’s Relief Funds of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Actor Pawan Kalyan donated Rs 1 crore, while Mahesh Babu and megastar Chiranjeevi offered Rs 50 lakh each for the two states. Amid this, the Tamil industry has been receiving flak for not contributing or even responding to the situation.
On the workfront, Simbu was last seen in Pathu Thala, directed by Obeli Krishna. He will be seen in a prominent role in Kamal Haasan-Mani Ratnam’s Thug Life and Desingh Periyasamy’s next, tentatively titled STR 48.
