Enthiran (Robot)

The total cost of S Shankar's Enthiran was 132 crore. The film starring Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai, revolved around the struggle of scientist Vaseegaran to control his creation - a robot named Chitti. However, the project backfires when Chitti falls in love with the scientist's girlfriend.

Baahubali

Both films in the franchise - Baahubali: The Beginning at 180 crore and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion at 250 crore - have been made at mind boggling budget. Directed by SS Rajamouli, the forthcoming magnum opus stars Rana Daggubati, Prabhas, Anushka Shetty and Tamannaah Bhatia in lead roles. Set in an ancient kingdom, it's a battle between two warring brothers.

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo

One of the most extravagant films of Bollywood, Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo was helmed at a budged of 180 crore. Considering the fact that it was the fourth collaboration of filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya and Salman Khan after 16 years, the film had to be a grand affair.

Dhoom 3

The film had in store for viewers a series of special effects and massive stunts set over a budget of 175 crore. Dhoom 3 featured Aamir Khan as the main villain and Katrina Kaif as the female protagonist along with Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra reprising their roles from the previous two films in franchise.

Despite a 165 crore investment, the film was much hyped for its onscreen pairing of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol than any other thing. Rohit Shetty's directorial offered a dollops of romance, dance and action to fans.

Bang Bang

Sidharth Anand's directorial, made over a budget of 160 crore, starred Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif as protagonists. The film failed to weave magic at box office, but attracted viewers for the charm of the original film Day and Knight - on which Bang Bang was based.

Happy New Year

The fact that Happy New Year failed to etch a mark doesn't undermine the 150 crore gone in the making. It's the third collaboration between Shah Rukh and Farah after Main Hoon Na and Om Shanti Om.

Bajirao Mastani

The concept of Magnum Opus and Sanjay Leela Bhnasali's direction go hand in hand. He spent over 145 crore in bringing to life the love story of Bajirao (Ranveer Singh) and Mastani (Deepika Padukone). the grandeur of sets and magnificence of costumes said it all.

Sultan

Based on wrestling, Sultan starred Salman Khan and Anushka Sharma in lead roles. Made on a budget of over 140 crore, the film revolves around the life of Sultan Ali Khan, a fictional wrestling champion from Haryana whose successful professional life creates a rift in his personal life. Salman Khan-starrer Kick was too made with a similar budget.

Mughal-e-Azam

The film starring Dilip Kumar, Madhubala and Prithviraj Kapoor, was helmed in 1960 by K Asif on a budget of 1.5 crore. Now it might sound like a paltry sum but back then it was a big deal. The film revolved around the love story of Mughal emperor Salim and Anarkali, a court dancer.
