Bhaskar Sakthi's Bilingual Film Vadakkan Is Now Titled Rail
Sakthi said that the censor board has explained to him that the word Vadakkan has different meanings.

Bilingual South film Vadakkan, slated to release at the big screens has run into trouble over its title. The title has now been changed to Rail. The censor board has asked the dialogue writer-turned-director Bhaskar Sakthi to change the name. In an interview with a portal, Sakthi talked about the reasons behind the same. Sakthi said that the censor board has explained to him that the word Vadakkan has different meanings. In the South, as per the censor board, it has an offensive connotation and that’s why the title has to be censored. According to the Naan Mahaan Alla writer, there was no ulterior motive of the censor board to change the title of the film. As per the reports, the team behind Vadakkan will announce the new title and the release date of the film in a couple of days. This change will also have an impact on the release date of this film. Now, it will not be released on May 24.

Dialogue writer Sakthi is one of the most sought-after names in the Tamil entertainment industry. He has penned dialogues for hits like Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu and Naan Mahaan Alla. His dialogues, known for being family-friendly have earned him much admiration and accolades from the industry. After making a name for himself as a dialogue writer, Sakthi is now venturing into direction by making his directorial debut with the film Vadakkan. The movie went on floors with a puja ceremony on Thursday, February 23, 2023.

Vediyappan has bankrolled this movie under the banner of Discovery Cinemas, and it will be presented by Cinema Palace. This movie features a team of debut actors including Kunguma Raj as the male lead and Vairamala as the female lead. According to the reports, the movie will have sync sound or live sound recording. Rajesh Saseendran, who has earlier recorded live sound for Thalaikoothal, will also provide live sound for Vadakkan.

SJ Jananiy, a Carnatic musician, is going to score the thematic score for Vediyappan, while Ramesh Vaidya is composing the songs. The film is billed to be based on the plot of migrant workers. Theni Easwar and Nagooran will be in charge of the cinematography and editing of the movie respectively.
