Deadpool And Wolverine Trailer: Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman Are Ready For A 'Bloody' Good MCU Debut; Watch
The adrenaline-fueled trailer of 'Deadpool and Wolverine' assures an exciting introduction of these iconic characters into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Marvel Studios released a new trailer for ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ on Monday, showcasing footage of Hugh Jackman reprising his role as Wolverine for the first time since 2017’s ‘Logan.’ In this trailer, he joins forces with Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool, who gets enlisted for a mission by the Time Variance Authority from the series ‘Loki.’

The 2-minute and 38-second trailer lives up to expectations. It offers a peek into a hesitant Wolverine being roped into a mission by the persistent Deadpool. Their divergent personalities collide, leading to sparks flying (quite literally in one comical moment). The trailer is brimming with action-packed scenes, showcasing Deadpool’s iconic katanas and Wolverine’s adamantium claws making quick work of adversaries. As expected with Deadpool, the trailer is laced with self-aware humor and instances of breaking the fourth wall.

For the first time in live-action, Jackman’s Wolverine is seen sporting the classic yellow suit inspired by the character’s look from the ‘X-Men’ comic books. The initial ‘X-Men’ film playfully addressed the idea of Wolverine wearing such an outfit, with a character jokingly suggesting, “What would you prefer, yellow spandex?”

After Wolverine met his end in ‘Logan,’ Jackman believed he had bid farewell to the role for good, convinced by the closure of the film’s conclusive ending. However, to the delight of fans, Jackman’s return as Wolverine in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ became a reality in 2022. Expressing his initial certainty of being finished with the character, Jackman shared with CNN’s Chris Wallace that the chance to share the screen once more with Reynolds’ Deadpool was compelling enough to entice him back into the role he thought he had retired from.

With Disney’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox in 2019, ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ welcomes Deadpool into the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the first time. True to the irreverent ‘Deadpool’ spirit, the film is anticipated to deliver a plethora of meta jokes about the transition from Fox to Disney. At a recent CinemaCon preview, Deadpool playfully broke the fourth wall by taking a shot at Fox before jubilantly exclaiming, “Suck it, Fox! I’m headed to Disneyland.”

‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ also marks Jackman’s highly anticipated return as Wolverine after his character’s demise in ‘Logan. Despite Jackman initially indicating he was finished with the role, he surprised fans in 2022 by confirming his comeback, citing the chance to work alongside Reynolds’ Deadpool as a major reason for his return.

This collaboration also signifies Deadpool’s introduction into the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Disney’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox, the former owners of the ‘X-Men’ and ‘Deadpool’ film rights in 2019. Fans can expect the film to maintain the irreverent and self-aware tone characteristic of the ‘Deadpool’ franchise, with meta jokes about the shift from Fox to Disney.

While some viewers worry about the impact of ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ on Wolverine’s poignant farewell in ‘Logan,’ both Jackman and Reynolds have clarified that the events of the 2017 film will remain unaffected by this new project. They have assured audiences that the world of ‘Logan’ stands on its own and won’t be tampered with.

Directed by Shawn Levy, renowned for his directorial contributions to ‘Free Guy’ and the ‘Night at the Museum’ series, ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ is set to grace cinemas on July 26, 2024, promising to be a standout blockbuster of the summer season. Joining the cast alongside this dynamic duo will be Matthew Macfadyen portraying Paradox, a Time Variance Authority agent, and Emma Corrin in a yet-to-be-revealed role.
