The announcement was made a day ahead of Season 4’s premiere.

Eric Kripke, the showrunner of the renowned superhero series The Boys, announced that the fifth season will be its last. The fourth season will be released on Thursday, June 13. With a universe full of superheroes, the beloved drama delivers dark societal critique. Now, in a post on Tuesday on X (formerly Twitter), Kripke dropped an image of a concealed version of the script for the Season 4 finale. He wrote, “#TheBoys Season 4 Premiere Week is a good time to announce: Season 5 will be the Final Season!”

“Always my plan, I just had to be cagey till I got the final OK from Vought. Thrilled to bring the story to a gory, epic, moist climax. Watch Season 4 in 2 DAYS, cause the end has begun!”

The Boys’ fifth season was renewed by Prime Video in May, but prior to Kripke and the actors beginning promoting the fourth, rumours started circulating that the upcoming season would be the final.

As per a Variety report, Kripke had previously expressed his desire for a minimum of five seasons to fully complete the narrative. It was also not specified that Season 5 would be the last when the season was renewed back in May.

Referring to the fact that he notably planned a five-season plan for Supernatural until the programme went on for an additional ten years, Kripke told Entertainment Weekly, “I’m excited to finally execute a 5-season plan.”
