Taylor Swift’s fans had been buzzing with excitement but also had a sense of caution at Wembley Stadium as the iconic singer took on the final series of shows for the European leg of her Eras tour. The atmosphere was charged, not just with anticipation for the music, but also with heightened security measures. These were put in place following a terror threat that had recently led to the cancellation of three shows in Vienna. With this in mind, Swifties at the London Stadium on Thursday evening were particularly vigilant. However, it wasn’t long before some fans noticed a familiar face among the audience and it was none other than singer Ed Sheeran.
As the show got underway, Taylor Swift chose to surprise her fans with a special treat. She selected Everything Has Changed, a song she and Ed Sheeran had collaborated on, as the first surprise song of the night. Swift began the song on her own, singing the first stanza. However, the crowd erupted in cheers as she invited Ed Sheeran to join her on stage, informs Rolling Stone.
Their chemistry was evident as they performed the heartfelt song together. Adding to it, Swift had yet another surprise up her sleeve. Instead of stopping at the usual two-song medley, she reportedly treated the audience to a duet version of Sheeran’s hit single Thinking Out Loud. The performance was made even more special when the wristbands provided to fans lit up in a bright green, the colour similar to that of Sheeran’s X (Multiply) album cover.

During the performance, Swift also took a moment to speak to the audience about her friendship with Ed Sheeran. “This is one of my best friends in the world, to the point where I feel like he’s a second brother,” she shared. “We toured together on the Red tour and every time I perform the Red segment of the show, I’m reminded of the amazing memories we’ve made. Now, he’s someone who plays Wembley like it’s just another gig. He works incredibly hard and even though he’s on tour right now and probably exhausted, he still wanted to come here, perform for you all, and do this for us. So, please, give it up for Ed Sheeran,” Swift added, according to Rolling Stone.
After the heartfelt collaboration, Swift also played a mashup of The Alchemy and King of My Heart on the piano.
After this, the Love Story singer has more shows scheduled at Wembley Stadium on August 16, 17, 19 and 20. Once she wraps up this European leg of the tour, fans can look forward to the Eras tour resuming in North America in October, where more surprises are sure to be in store.
