The makers of the biggest Malayalam hit of the year, Manjummel Boys, are currently embroiled in some legal troubles. As per the reports, a man filed a complaint against the film’s producers, alleging the makers had cheated on him.
As per more reports, the case was filed in the Ernakulam First Class Magistrate Court against Parava Films, the production banner behind the film, as well as their partner Shawn Antony. The complainant, Siraj Valiyathara Hameed, resides in the Aroor area of Kerala’s Kochi.
According to him, he invested an amount of Rs 7 crore in the film and was promised a 40 per cent share in the profits by the producers. He alleged that they did not pay him his promised profits. A case was filed by the Maradu Police with the charges of conspiracy and cheating. The station officer Saju George said, “We lodged a case on Tuesday against the producers based on the Ernakulam First Class Magistrate Court’s direction.”
The reports further state that according to the FIR, the production company did not pay him the invested amount of around Rs 21.67 crore. Furthermore, the court has asked the authorities to freeze the bank accounts of the film’s producers.
The complainant claims that he entered an agreement with the production house in November 2022 and invested Rs 7 crore through instalments on the film, following their assurances. He further claimed that he was led to believe the film’s investment was Rs 22 crore when originally it was below Rs 10 crore. As the film went in to collect more than Rs 200 crore, the complainant says that he is yet to receive his promised amount.
Chidambaram helms Manjummel Boys while Soubin Shahir, Babu Shahir and Shawn Antony have produced it under the banner of Parava Films. It stars Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, Balu Varghese and Ganapathi S Poduval among others. The film has garnered more than Rs 240 crore at the box office so far.
