The final season of HBO’s Game of Thrones didn’t go down without a storm. Fans ripped into makers David Benioff and DB Weiss for their controversial choices, and Kit Harington, aka Jon Snow, has now spilled the beans. He confessed that by the end, everyone was so exhausted that the show’s finale felt like a hasty wrap-up.
“I think if there was any fault with the end of Thrones, is that we were all so f*cking tired, we couldn’t have gone on longer. And so I understand some people thought it was rushed and I might agree with them. But I’m not sure there was any alternative,” he told British GQ in an interview. The actor said that working on the show for ten years left him exhausted. “I look at pictures of me in that final season and I look exhausted. I look spent. I didn’t have another season in me,” he added.
The final season’s ending faced criticism from fans and critics. The actor said that everyone’s entitled to an opinion. “I think there were mistakes made, story-wise, towards the end maybe. I think there were some interesting choices that didn’t quite work,” he added.
Earlier this year, Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and DB Weiss discussed the negative fan reactions and how they affected them. He said that he didn’t expect everyone to love their work and admitted to the Hollywood Reporter, “You always hope everyone’s going to love anything you do and it would’ve been great if 100 percent of people loved it, but they didn’t. You can get so bogged down in public opinion that you spend your whole life googling things and trying to find people who felt one way or the other way”,
A Jon Snow spinoff series, featuring Kit returning to his role, has been shelved as of now.
