Kunal Kapoor Joins Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana? Here's What We Know

Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana has fans buzzing with excitement. Beyond the grand scale, the film has caught everyone’s attention for its impeccable star cast, with Ranbir Kapoor portraying the character of Lord Rama. The actor will be joined by Sai Pallavi who is reported to essay Maa Sita on the big screen. If the latest reports are something to go by, Kunal Kapoor has also been roped in to play a pivotal role in the upcoming magnum opus.

Pinkvilla, in its latest report, suggested that Kunal Kapoor has joined the stellar star cast, and begun preparing for the film. A source while speaking to the portal confirmed that Kunal has been busy doing rehearsals and costume trials for Ramayana. However, the makers have kept details about Kunal’s character under wraps.

Ramayana is expected to be released in two parts. A source close to the development previously told the entertainment portal, “Given the scale and magnitude of the film, the makers have opted for a two-part approach to tell the story. While most in the business await the results of part one before taking the second one on floors, Ramayana will be shot simultaneously.”

That’s not all. The source also reflected on the shooting schedule of Ramayana and added a 350-day shoot schedule has been chalked out for the project. The schedule includes filming of the scenes featuring the extended star cast and even their solo sequences. The makers are expected to wrap up the schedule by December 2025.

Apart from Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi, the KGF fame Yash is also expected to play Ravana while Lara Dutta will be seen portraying Surpanakha. Trade analyst Sumit Kadel, earlier in May, reported that Ramayana will be released in 2027. Recently, a few pictures of Ranbir, dressed in the character of Lord Ram emerged online, capturing the internet’s attention.

Work-wise, Kunal Kapoor recently completed filming for Jewel Thief: The Red Sun Chapter. The upcoming project is produced by Siddharth Anand. Besides Kunal, it also stars Saif Ali Khan. The actor also has a socio-fantasy film Vishwambhara featuring Chiranjeevi and a movie backed by Aamir Khan Productions lined up in his kitty. Additionally, he is also working on an action web series wherein he will be seen in the role of vigilante.
